James Eugene Kober Jr.

James Eugene Kober Jr., 62, of Slippery Rock passed away on Tuesday at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Jim was born Feb. 15, 1956, in Grove City, to James Eugene Kober Sr. and Virginia Ann Campbell Kober.

He married Ella Louise Kober on June 24, 2006, and she survives at the residence.

Jim was a foundry foreman and worked for over 32 years at Berry Metal in Evans City.

He was of the Methodist faith.

Jim loved hunting, fishing, camping, and boating. He played in his own band called “The Kober Boys.” He especially enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a kind and generous man.

Survivors include his wife, E. Louise at home; his stepson, Joseph Lenzi (Edward Bailey) of Aurora, Ohio; his mother, Virginia Kober of Slippery Rock; two sisters, Irene Morgan (Dave) of Butler, and Doris Tuite of Slippery Rock; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father.

KOBER — The family of James Eugene Kober Jr., who died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2018, will receive friends from 4 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 7 p.m. Friday at Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock.A memorial service will be observed at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.Memorial contributions may be made to the Lunsford Fund to support neuroscience research at the University of Pittsburgh.
