Butler police seek strangulation suspect
Butler police are seeking the public's help in finding a city man wanted in the alleged assault of a juvenile Sunday evening.
A felony arrest warrant has been issued for 37-year-old Danny Nichols, according to a police news release. He is charged with strangulation.
Police said they were called about 6:30 p.m. for an assault at a home on Standard Avenue. Officers identified Nichols, who lives there, as the suspect and they believed he was in the house.
Police obtained both a search warrant for the home and a warrant for Nichols' arrest. He is accused of assaulting a girl. The girl was later taken to a Pittsburgh hospital with unknown injuries.
The Butler County Emergency Services Unit assisted police about 9 p.m. at the house. Authorities said that after getting no response, flash bangs and tear gas rounds were fired inside the home.
But when police searched the house about 1 a.m. Monday, the suspect was not there.
Anyone with information about Nichols' whereabouts is asked to call 911.
