Warren Keith Salsbury, 88, of Zelienople, formerly of Charlottesville, Va., passed away Wednesday at Passavant Retirement Home.

He was born April 24, 1930, and raised in Fairfax County, Va. He was the son of the late Burt F. Salsbury and the late Lillian B. (Shreve) Salsbury and grew up helping his parents run local dairy farms.

Warren graduated from Falls Church High School and then the University of Virginia, where he obtained his B.A. and Master's Degrees in English. While at UVA, Warren joined Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity and later served as an alumni advisor and mentor to the TKE UVA Chapter.

Following school, he served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps in the 1950s. During this time, he was responsible for listening to radio signals and recording codes for the code breakers.

Warren first worked as an English teacher at Fairfax High School before moving to Charlottesville, where he worked for Sperry Systems and later the University of Virginia.

Warren enjoyed gardening, reading, singing and travel. He was proud of having his gardens participate in the annual Virginia Garden Week.

Warren loved animals and it was not unusual to hear him talking to his furry friends. He also loved sweets, especially pie and ice cream!

He is survived by his son, David Keith Salsbury and his wife, Marcia, of Harmony; his daughter, Anne H. (Salsbury) Hayes and her husband, Dan, of Sterling, Va.; his daughter, Allison Salsbury Moore and her husband, Chris, of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; his grandchildren, Zane Salsbury, Ellie Moore, Alexandra Hayes and Charlotte Hayes; and his grand-pets, Shelby the dog, and Mittens and Grayson, the cats. Grandpa Warren will be greatly missed.

Warren was a member of the Seaman Memorial Church at Passavant in Zelienople. Warren's family thanks the caring staff of Passavant and the Good Samaritan Hospice for all the care given to him.

SALSBURY — A memorial service to celebrate the life of Warren Keith Salsbury, who died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2018, will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Seaman Memorial Chapel at Passavant Retirement Community, 105 Burgess Dr., Zelienople.Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Boylan Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 324 E.
