Carl J. Puntureri
Carl J. Puntureri of Grove City passed peacefully on Sunday in the VNA Hospice of Butler following a one-year illness. He was 61.
Carl was born on Aug. 27, 1957, in Butler, to James P. and Dolores (Malvarose) Puntureri.
He married Ann M. McFeely on Sept. 29, 1979; she survives at home.
He was a graduate of Grove City High School in 1975, and Grove City College in 1979, where he received a bachelor of science in biology.
Following college, Carl enrolled in officer training school with the U.S. Air Force. He also earned a master's degree in aeronautical studies from Embry-Riddle University.
His military career led Carl, Ann and his girls all over the world. He retired with the rank of colonel (select) following 22 years of service.
After his military career, he was employed by Interstate Chemical and later Butler County, where he was first deputy recorder of deeds.
Carl loved spending time with his family and friends. He loved to cook, play golf, and fish. He was a loyal Steelers fan. He enjoyed traveling, especially fishing trips to Canada.
In addition to his wife, Ann, he is survived by three daughters, Lisa Puntureri, Leigh Shields and her husband, Stephen, all of Slippery Rock, and Toni Buell and her husband, George, of Hermitage; two grandchildren, Cassandra and Hunter Shields; his mother, Dolores Manaia; two sisters, Debi Bentlage and her husband, Frans, and Patti Kirsch, all of Oak Harbor, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his father, James P. Puntureri.

Puntureri, who died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2018, will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 26, 2018, in Cunningham Funeral Home, 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, at the Church of the Beloved Disciple, 1310 S. Center St. Ext., Grove City, with the Rev. Michael Allison as celebrant.Military honors will follow in the Gathering Space of the church following the funeral Mass.Memorials in Carl's memory can be made to Slippery Rock School District (marked Area Elementary Capital Improvement Fund), 201 Kiester Road, Slippery Rock, PA 16057.
