Earl W. Strohm Jr.
Earl W. Strohm Jr., 89, of Valencia, formerly of the Wireton-South Heights area passed away on Monday.
He was born March 27, 1929, in Aliquippa, and was a son of the late Earl W. and Helen (Donaldson) Strohm.
Earl proudly served his country with the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War.
Earl was a former member of the Hopewell VFW.
He retired from the Aliquippa Works of Jones & Laughlin Steel, where he was an inspector.
After moving to Valencia, he enjoyed working at the Gibsonia Shop & Save, greeting shoppers and forming friendships that lasted beyond his years of employment.
Earl was a real genuine people person.
In his earlier years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a self-taught carpenter and handyman. Earl also loved spending time simply playing cards with his wife, Thelma.
He is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Thelma G. (Picken) Strohm; one son and daughter-in-law, Earl W. (Amy) Strohm III of Placentia, Calif.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Ruth Strohm of Ambridge, and Helen (Dean) Phillips of Knoxville, Tenn; two stepdaughters, Sharon King of Saxonburg, and Karen Welder of Rochester; and five grandchildren, Rayna, Ashley, Dana, Rob and Jennifer.
In addition to his parents, Earl was preceded in death by his brother, Lou “Snooky” Strohm; and his sister, Norma “Sis” Strohm.
STROHM — Friends of Earl W.
