James Leslie Pizor
James Leslie Pizor, 100, passed at 7 a.m. Friday at his home in Mercer Township, Slippery Rock.
He was born June 21, 1918, in Worth Township, Butler County, to James A. Pizor and Inez (Ramsey) Pizor.
Leslie married Jessie Louise Lindey on Sept. 26, 1945, and she preceded him in death on June 28, 2008.
His great-grandfather, John Pizor, was the first recorded non-Native American child born in Worth Township on Sept. 1, 1797.
In his younger years, Leslie enjoyed hunting as well as raising pheasants, chickens and peacocks on the family dairy farm.
He was a truck driver, hauling petroleum for Farm Bureau in Butler, and he also hauled coal for Reed Barkley in Prospect. He retired from the Butler County Prison as a guard.
He attributed his longevity to his daily intake of bacon, butter, everything sweet and his good sense of humor.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Leslie Pizor and his wife, Tara, and Roger Pizor, all of Slippery Rock; four grandchildren, Richard L. Pizor, Elizabeth Zoe Pizor, Jessy C. Osborne and Chloe J. Pizor; eight great-grandchildren; and a number of great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his brother, Claire Pizor; and his sister, Mildred Pizor.
