Two men charged after mugging Butler man
BUTLER — Two Butler men are jailed on charges they attacked another man Wednesday afternoon before stealing his cell phone and a pack of cigarettes, city police say.
Arrested for felony assault and other charges were Sheldon L. Hile, 22, and Lukus T. Safranek, 23.
Police said the defendants about 1:30 p.m. assaulted a 21-year-old man who was walking on Liberty Street. Safranek is accused of punching the victim in the face and slamming him to the ground.
Hile allegedly kicked the man while he was on the ground. Police said Hile also threatened to stab the man.
The suspects, according to a police report, stole an Apple iPhone and an unopened pack of cigarettes from the victim, who was treated at Butler Memorial Hospital for minor injuries.
Police later found the defendants at an apartment on the 300 block of West New Castle Street. Officers at the home also found more than two dozen pills that Hile admitted were his, police said.
Hile subsequently led police to where he discarded the victim's phone, according to court documents.
Both defendants are charged with robbery, conspiracy, aggravated assault and criminal use of a communication facility.
Hile also is charged with possession of a controlled substance.
