Rickman, Bauer become Eagle Scouts

Skyler Rickman

ZELIENOPLE — Skyler Rickman of North Sewickley put his best paw forward to earn his Eagle Scout designation.

The 15-year-old of Zelienople Troop 457 provided the leadership for building and installing a Rally Obedience Trail to benefit the Butler County Humane Society.

A function of the trail, which features eight obstacle stations, is to see how a newly adopted dog interacts with a new owner.

Another function is to provide a disciplined process for volunteers to work with dogs to prepare them for adoption.

Under Skyler’s direction, the Scouts and adult volunteers completed the project that took more than 200 hours from start to finish.

Skyler, who has been an active Scout for nine years, has earned 32 merit badges. He serves as the assistant patrol leader, librarian, patrol leader, chaplain aide, assistant senior patrol leader and senior patrol leader.
