$1 million winner sold at N. Main Street store

Bhupi Chand, a manager for University Korner, works the register Tuesday morning, one day after a $1 million winning lottery ticket was sold there.

BUTLER TWP — A local store sold a winning Match 6 lottery ticket worth $1 million.

The winner bought the ticket Monday from University Korner, located at 1125 N. Main St. Ext. The ticket matched all six winning numbers — 3-8-16-19-34-47 — and won the jackpot.

More than 40,600 people cashed in prizes of various sizes on the $2 entry.

The retailer earns a $5,000 bonus for selling the jackpot-winning ticket.

Bhupi Chand, a store manager, said University Korner is a small, privately owned franchise that recently opened at the Butler Township location, its seventh.

“It's only been four months since we opened up,” Chand said. “It feels great.”

He said the store is no stranger to winners, but jackpots are something different.

“We have sold a couple of $1,000 winning scratch-offs, but this is the big one,” Chand said.

Chand said if he had won $1 million, he would invest the money in his business.

Winners are unknown until prizes are claimed and tickets are validated. Winners have one year to claim their prize. The holder of the winning ticket should sign the ticket and contact the nearest lottery office, which would be in Pittsburgh.
