Thomas E. Tibbott

Thomas E. Tibbott, 76, of Pittsburgh passed away Thursday at his home following a brief illness.

Tom is survived by his wife of 48 years, Jane (Montgomery) Tibbott, and many loving family members.

Following his graduation from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Tom served in the Peace Corps in the Philippines from 1965 to 1967.

He was a dedicated educator with a career that spanned 45 years. Beginning as a sixth grade teacher at Peebles Elementary in North Allegheny School District. Tom spent the next 41 years in South Butler County schools, where he was hired as the youngest principal and retired as the oldest principal, an accomplishment of which he was most proud.

Tom began each and every school day with the following message, “The choices you make today shape your world tomorrow.”

He was preceded in death by parents Russell and Helen Tibbott; and his brothers Jack, Bob and Bill.

TIBBOTT — Friends of Thomas E. Tibbott, who died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2018 will be received from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Simons Funeral Home 7720 Perry Highway, Pittsburgh.A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Simons Funeral Home.Memorial contributions may be made to Make a Wish Foundation, 707 Grant St. #3700, Pgh., PA 15219, Good Samaritan Hospice, Concordia Lutheran Ministries, 134 Marwood Rd., Cabot, PA 16023, or to a charity of your choice.
