Cabot woman accused of hitting 7-year-old boy

Carrie Marie Svencer, 27, of Cabot was charged Tuesday with endangering the welfare of children, simple assault and harassment for allegedly hitting her 7-year-old son after he refused to take his medication.

She was released on $5,000 unsecured bail. A preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Sue Haggerty is pending.

The incident occurred between Jan. 25 and 27, state police said, when Svencer tried to give her son a pill while he sat in a chair in her kitchen. He refused to take it and she allegedly kicked the chair out from under him, police said.

He got up and sat back down in the chair then Svencer allegedly shoved the pill into his mouth, poured a can of flavored water into his mouth and on his face, police said. Unable to breathe through the water, he spat it out, then Svencer allegedly struck him in his face with the can and continued striking him after he fell to the floor, police said.

He suffered a black eye and bruises on his hands and arms, police said.

Svencer was ordered not to have contact with him, who is in his father’s custody.
