David E. Bell

David E. Bell

David E. Bell, 75, of Cranberry Township passed away Sunday at St. Barnabas in Gibsonia.

David was born and lived his entire childhood in Mansfield, Ohio.

After graduating high school, Dave completed his college studies at Bowling Green University, where he majored in public relations and business management. To enhance his interest in music composition and performance, he minored in piano performance. His modesty got the best of him, and he discovered he could not perform without fainting.

He worked 15 years, first in Mansfield, then at the Edison, N.J., Westinghouse plant, where he met his wife, Augustine.

Although he worked in public relations, his real love was woodworking and appreciation of all genres of music. This hobby led him to build and repair several instruments while spending two years as a proprietor of The Music Ensemble in Wexford.

During his mid-life, he went back to school and studied computer science. He went to work for Mellon Bank for 10 years.

In retirement, he enjoyed gardening, landscaping and some more woodworking until illness prohibited his hands from working properly.

But it was David's sweet and generous nature to all persons that is his lasting legacy. His smile, sincere cordiality, love for people and his patience are qualities that were precious and displayed at every juncture of his life. His family will miss him dearly. The family expresses deep and sincere gratitude to his Lord for knowing David Elbert Bell.

He was a member of LifePointe Alliance Church in Franklin Park and the Clan Bell International.

Surviving are his wife, Augustine “Augie” Campbell Bell, whom he married on July 10, 1971; a daughter, Leah C. Bell of Cambridge, Md.; two sons, Douglas S. (Nicole) Bell of Allison Park and Lucas E. Bell of Ambridge; and his granddaughters, Kasey and Riley Bell.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Marilyn Allyn.
