Richard Francis Pohrer
Richard Francis Pohrer, 83, of Harmony passed away on Saturday in the comfort of his home.
Born Nov. 5, 1935, in Bellevue, he was the son of the late Joseph A. Pohrer and Armella M. Mertes Pohrer.
Richard was a member of St. Ferdinand Catholic Church in Cranberry Township.
He proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1959 and in the reserves from 1959 to 1963.
He retired as a plant manager from Halstead Industries.
He enjoyed camping and spending time with his family and friends.
Above all, he was a beloved and devoted husband who cared for his late wife, Martha, during her struggle with ALS and a wonderful and loving father. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his daughter, Cheryl Pohrer, and her fiancé, Jim Ford; and a sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Korczynski of Zelienople.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Martha A. “Martie” Pohrer; a son, Jay Richard Pohrer; a brother, Joseph Pohrer; and two sisters, Agnes Knoth and Mary Barnes.
POHRER — A Mass of Christian burial for Richard Francis Pohrer, who died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2018, will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church, 2535 Rochester Road, Cranberry Township, with the Rev. Fr. Mark Thomas as celebrant.
He will be laid to rest with military honors at Pinewood Memorial Gardens in Cranberry Township.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 15120, Chicago, IL 60693.
His arrangements have been entrusted to Boylan Funeral Home, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.
