Water main break slows traffic in Evans City
A water main break has reduced Main Street traffic to one lane in Evans City this morning.
The Evans City Water & Sewage Authority has been notified and officials are looking to fix the problem.
“They haven't figured out where (the leak) but it's leaking pretty good right now,” said an officer for the Evans City-Seven Fields Regional Police Department about 6 a.m.
Authorities said PennDOT sent a crew to apply salt to the road to avoid any possibly freezing.
It is the second straight day that crews have been called out for water problems in the borough.
Authority officials on Sunday reported a water main break on Main Street hill near St. Mathias Church. Residents experienced discoloration in the water but there was
boil alert issued.
At 10:35 p.m., the county's 911 center received another report of a water main break in the area of Elizabeth Avenue near Main Street.
It was not immediately clear if the two breaks are related.
