Judy J. Protzman

Judy J. Protzman, 69, of Glen Burnie, Md., formerly of Butler passed away at her home on Tuesday.

Born on Jan. 11, 1949, she was the daughter of James Keefer of West Sunbury and the late Ethel Jane (Gray) Keefer.

Judy worked for the United Telephone Co. and Applied Test Systems in Butler before moving to Glen Burnie, Md. Once in the Baltimore area, Judy worked as the receptionist and executive assistant to President Edward Pitts at the David Edward Ltd. furniture company of Baltimore, Md. until her retirement.

Judy was an avid reader and crossword puzzle solver. Judy collected cobalt blue Moderntone glassware and Sun Rubber/Edward Mobley dolls and toys, amassing more than 100 pieces of the glassware and 300 pieces of dolls and toys. She was also passionate about honoring military veterans as well as actively donating clothes and goods to local charities.

Judy enjoyed traveling with her husband Ed to Florida, softball tournaments, large flea markets and yards sales, antique markets and historical sites.

She found great joy in visiting with her children and spoiling her grandchildren with special gifts and packages from Grandma Judy at birthdays and during the holiday season.

She is survived by her husband, Edward P. Protzman Jr.; two children, Steven R. (Miranda) Massart and Nicole “Nikki” M. (Damien) Chapman; and her grandchildren, Stephanie Massart, Jackson “Jack” Wolfe, Sawyer Massart, Lyra Massart and Trixie Chapman.

She also is survived by her father, James Keefer, and his wife, Lill; and her brothers, Mike (Holly) Keefer and David (Theresa) Keefer.

She was proceeded in death by her mother, Ethel Jane Keefer.

PROTZMAN — Friends of Judy J. Protzman, who died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2019, will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Pastor James Smith officiating.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you donate to Honor Flight Pittsburgh at www.honorflightpittsburgh.org.
