Flood watch in effect until Friday morning
The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for Butler County and the surrounding area due to a fast-moving system that could bring as much as an inch of rain Thursday night.
Myranda Fullerton, a meteorologist with the NWS office in Moon Township, said a fast-moving low pressure system centered around the Great Lakes could bring three-quarters of an inch to an inch of rain before it passes by Thursday night. That total includes the rainfall from Thursday afternoon, she said.
The flood watch is in effect until 7 a.m. Friday when the temperature will reach a high of only 30 degrees and continue falling through Saturday, she said.
“A trailing cold front is also passing through. Temperatures tomorrow will be much colder than today. We're expecting highs right around 30 degrees with temperaturesdropping through the day,” Fullerton said.
