Jane C. (Fettig) Babcock

Jane C. (Fettig) Babcock, 92, of Butler, formerly of Muncie, Ind., passed away peacefully Thursday at Concordia Lutheran Care Facility in Cabot.

Jane was born on Dec. 30, 1926, and was the daughter of the late Paul J. and Stella (Nix) Fettig.

A graduate of Ball State University with a degree in elementary education, Jane taught second grade for over 30 years at St. Anne Parochial School in New Castle, Ind. She was a director of youth ministry for many years and enjoyed spending summers at her family cottage at Yellow Creek Lake in Silver Lake, Ind.

She was active with Tri-Kappa Philanthropic Sorority and was a member of the local Saturday Club and Literary Club.

She was the beloved wife of the late Dr. James Richard Babcock from New Castle, Ind.; and the loving mother of Joan (Samuel) Tosto of Butler and Bruce (Cathy) Babcock of Brownsburg, Ind.

She was the sister of Nanette (Don) Morris, Muncie, Ind., Joseph (Geraldine) Fettig of Lebanon, Ind., and the late John (Falba) Fettig of Elwood, Ind.

She was a proud grandmother of Frances Anne and Vince Tosto and Julie and Emily Babcock. She is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Andrew and Sophia.

BABCOCK — Friends of Jane C. (Fettig) Babcock, who died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2019, are invited to a Mass of Christian burial which will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Sepulcher Catholic Church, 1304 E. Cruikshank Road, Butler.Arrangements are being handled by Schellhaas Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Bakerstown.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Holy Sepulcher Catholic Church, 1304 E.
