Leo S. Geagan Jr.

Leo S. Geagan Jr., 91, of Butler passed away at his residence Monday.

Born April 18, 1927, in Chicora, he was a son of the late Leo S. Geagan Sr. and Terressa Plunkard Geagan.

Leo was retired from Butler Armco, where he worked for 37 years in the shipping department.

A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served in World War II.

He was a member of the Butler Moose, the French & Belgium Club and the Summit Township Sportsman Club.

Leo loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was devoted to his dogs.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping and he especially liked working in his yard.

The Geagan family was well known for the outdoor Christmas displays they installed at their home for many years at holiday time.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann McKissick Geagan, whom he married Sept. 2, 1950; four sons, Barry D. Geagan and his wife, Cathy, of Lyndora, Robert E. Geagan and his wife, Kim, of Butler, Leo S. Geagan III and his wife, Kim, of Butler and Patrick M. Geagan of Butler; and one daughter, Kathleen Ellwood and her husband, Douglas, of Butler.

Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, Shawn, Stacy, Cory, Cody, Kylie, Megan, Dillon, Trinity, Dustin and Jesse; and nine great-grandchildren, Carson, Smith, Luciano, Braydan, Cooper, Brycen, Preslie, Riley and Ayden.

He was preceded in death by one son, Ralph E. Geagan, who passed away May 25, 1957; three brothers; and two sisters.

GEAGAN — Friends of Leo S. Geagan Jr., who died Monday, Jan. 14, 2019, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Martin Funeral Home, 429 Center Ave., Butler, on Thursday.St. Paul Catholic Women and Christian Mothers will meet at 10:35 a.m. Friday at the church to recite the rosary.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday from St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St., Butler.Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery.Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by VFW Post 249 of Butler, American Legion Post 778 of Lyndora, and American Legion Post 117 of Butler.The family requests memorial donations to VA Butler Healthcare, 353 N.
