Joyce A. “Dee Dee” Schrecengost
Joyce A. “Dee Dee” Schrecengost, 83, of Hooker Road, Karns City, passed away late Wednesday evening at the home of her daughter surrounded by her loving family following a one-year illness.
Joyce was born June 4, 1935, in Karns City. She was the daughter of the late Frank E. and C. Anna Adams Blystone.
She had attended Karns City High School and the Karns City United Methodist Church.
Joyce was a homemaker. She enjoyed ceramics, butterflies, camping and most especially, the company of her family.
She was married to Leroy W. Schrecengost on Dec. 31, 1955, in Karns City. He preceded her in death on June 7, 1990.
Surviving are three children, Debra Reed and her husband, Jim, of Karns City, Gregory L. Schrecengost and his companion, Dawn Double, of Butler and Doug W. Schrecengost and his wife, Barb, of Karns City; seven grandchildren, Taryn Best and her husband, Toby, of Karns City, Travis Reed and his wife, Melanie, of Petrolia, Jarrod Schrecengost and his companion, Jen, of Fairview, Amanda Schrecengost of Karns City, Heath Schrecengost and his companion, Monika, of Bruin, Kayla Courson and her husband, Tom, of New Bethlehem, and Jodie Christie of Slippery Rock; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Joyce was preceded in death by two brothers, Dewey and Jack Blystone; and a sister, Frankie Norris.
SCHRECENGOST — Friends of Joyce A. “Dee Dee” Schrecengost, who died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2019, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Hile Funeral Home of Karns City, 128 Main St., Karns City.A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday from the funeral home with Church of God of Prophecy Bishop Ronald Roudebush, the Rev. O.J. Roudebush, pastor of the Karns City Church of God of Prophecy, and Rodney McElravy, a family friend, officiating.Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Sugarcreek Township, Armstrong County.Memorial contributions may be made to the Karns City Regional Ambulance Service, P.O.
