John Paul Cleary of Cleary Lane, Zelienople, died on Jan. 17 at St. Paul Homes of Greenville, Pa. He was 79 years old.

Born June 29, 1939, in Pittsburgh, he was a son of the late John Paul and Marcella Elizabeth Hededic Cleary.

He married Mary Ann Grimes on Oct. 1, 1976, and she died Aug. 28, 2006.

Mr. Cleary was a graduate of North Allegheny High School and retired from Madia Homes of Wexford in 2005.

Survivors include two stepchildren, Richard and his wife, Mary Ondick, of Mercer, and Deborah and her husband, Robert McConnell, of Meadville; three grandchildren, Richard and Amanda Ondick, and Erin McConnell; and one great-grandchild, Evan Ondick.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann; and a sister, Eileen Cleary.

CLEARY — Graveside services for John Paul Cleary, who died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2019, were held in the Chapel of Pine Wood Memorial Park in Cranberry Township, Butler County.Arrangements were by Smith Funeral Home of Volant.
