Organization makes strides for women

Members of the Soroptimist International of Butler County gather for a group function.
Group helps those in need

The name Soroptimist comes from the Latin “soror” meaning sister, and “optima” meaning best.

“Soroptimist means best for women,” said Marianne Hill, the two-year president and six-year club member of Soroptimist International of Butler County. “We are a group of women willing to work together to help other women.”

The Soroptimist International of Butler County group consists of 27 members who strive to help other women.

“The goal is to help as many women as possible, to help get them back on their feet and incorporate them back into society, and make a better life for themselves and children,” Hill said.

New Soroptimist members are welcome, Hill said. Members must be age 18 or older.
