'Beauty and Beast' fans enjoy breakfast
MIDDLESEX TWP — Dozens of families made the early morning drive Saturday to Glade Run Church for a breakfast with the cast of the Mars High School production of “Beauty and the Beast.”
Doors opened at 8 a.m., and after an opening number of “Be Our Guest,” scores of cast members served breakfast to the tables, engaging with children and their families.
Jennifer Kennedy, musical director, said that with the interest around the production, they thought it'd be nice to engage area children before the event.
The kids thought so too, with many youngsters attending in costume, ready to talk and take pictures with the high school actors.
Lindsay Rosswog, Mars High School principal, brought her daughters, Quinn, 4, and Payton, 2, both of whom were decked out in full Disney princess regalia.
“It's awesome,” she said. “Quinn wants Belle to come to her birthday now. She says it's her favorite princess.”A few tables over, Madame, played by senior Bethany Harmon, stopped to take some snapshots and talk with Ryanne Palermo and her daughter, Amelia, 2, and newborn Jose.“This is great,” Palermo said. “The French accent on Pierre is perfect ... All the kids seem so excited to be here.”She said Amelia hasn't seen the movie but was still thrilled to be there. The event previewed next weekend's production of the play, which will begin at 7:30 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the high school. The cast brought the presentation to a close with a rendition of the song “Beauty and the Beast” and then took a group picture.“I'm so glad we came,” Palermo said.
