Early morning crash sends one person to the hospital

Butler police are continuing to investigate an early Monday morning crash between a car and dump truck that sent one person to the hospital.

The vehicles collided about ‪6:10 a.m.‬ at the intersection of West Jefferson and South Washington streets in Butler. The names of the drivers were not immediately available. The dump truck is owned by Butler Area School District.

According to police, the crash happened when a Honda Accord traveling south on South Washington Street collided with the dump truck that was headed west on Jefferson Street.

The female driver of the car suffered apparent minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to Butler Memorial Hospital.

The male driver of the dump truck was not injured. The truck had a partial load of salt in it and the driver had just salted the parking lot of Butler Middle School on East North Street.

Police said both drivers told them they had the green light at the intersection.
