A motorcyclist was rushed to the hospital after being hit by a truck along on Route 8 near Dinnerbell Road.

PENN TWP — A Valencia man suffered a leg injury Wednesday when, police said, the motorcycle he was riding was struck by a pickup truck on Route 8 south, just north of Dinnerbell Road.

The accident occurred at 3:15 p.m. when a northbound 2000 Chevrolet Silverado truck driven by Talon Anthony Murdick, 19, of Butler crossed the center turning lane and hit a southbound 2013 Kawasaki Vulcan motorcycle ridden by Thomas A. Hornyak, 55, said Cpl. Denny Crawford of the Penn Township Police Department.

Hornyak was transported by Butler Ambulance Service to the Pittsburgh-Butler Regional Airport and was then flown by LifeFlight medical helicopter to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Crawford said.

Neither Murdick nor his passenger Jacob Ruth, 20, of Butler were injured, Crawford said.

The accident remains under investigation.

Middlesex Township police and the Penn Township Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene.
