Charlotte Ann Thompson Lauer

Charlotte Ann Thompson Lauer, 79, of Butler, formerly of Parker, passed away on Thursday at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, surrounded by her loving family after an extended illness.

Charlotte was born April 8, 1939, in Chicora, and was a daughter of the late David Henry and Edna Mae Huselton Thompson.

She was a devoted and loving wife to her husband, William J. Lauer Jr., whom she married March 9, 1957, and who passed away on Feb. 21, 2013.

She worked as a waitress for various local restaurants before working at the former Glass Containers factory in Parker until it closed in the 1980s.

She was a life long member of the former St. Mary's Our Lady of the Snows in Parker before it closed. She also was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church in Emlenton. She was extremely devoted to her faith and her church.

She was a secretary for many years as well as a life long member of the Altar Society. Charlotte taught Sunday school and was a member of the Soup Group.

She was also well known for her baked goods and pies. She cooked countless goods for various community organizations and events. Of all of her endeavors and devotions, she was most proud of being a loving mother and grandmother. Her family was her true passion in life.

She is survived by two daughters, Patty (David) Shively of Butler, and Penny (Kevin) Clark of West Freedom; one son, Richard Lauer of Parker; two sisters, Merelyn Kriebel and Carolyn Rodgers; two brothers, David and Gary Thompson; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Thompson and Verna Patten; and three brothers, Bernerd, Darell and Gordon Thompson.

LAUER — Friends of Charlotte Ann Thompson Lauer, who died Thursday, March 14, 2019, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home, 201 S. Wayne Ave., Parker.Rosary, vigil and funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with Deacon Nick Cirel of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church of Emlenton officiating.Interment will follow at the Parker Presbyterian Cemetery in Parker.To send condolences or flowers, please visit buzardfuneralhomes.com.
