Local resigns as state game commissioner due to Saturday opener decision

Butler County resident James Daley has resigned as a Pennsylvania State Game Commissioner in the wake of the state's decision for a Saturday opener for deer hunting season.

Daley, who lives in Cranberry Township, was currently serving as commissioner for Region 1 (Butler, Clarion, Crawford, Erie, Forest, Lawrence, Mercer, Venango and Warren counties) in a six-month extension following the completion of his four-year term, which ended in February.

“I was really disappointed in the ability of some of the other commissioners to study the data on the Saturday opener,” Daley said.

Daley’s resignation takes effect June 1.
