MSA donates $10K to Butler district STEAM program

MSA has donated $10,000 to the Butler School District's STEAM program.

MSA's contribution was made through the Educational Improvement Tax Credit program to the Golden Tornado Scholastic Foundation to benefit students in grades five through 12 in the STEAM — which stands for science, technology, engineering, the arts and mathematics — program.

“They are very focused on supporting workforce development in Butler County and the surrounding area,” said Brian White, school district superintendent.

MSA is a global company that develops and manufacturers safety products and has an office in Cranberry Township.

Kenneth Krause, MSA vice president and chief financial officer, and Chris Platt, MSA global IT infrastructure manager, recently visited Butler Senior High School, announced the donation, and met with students in an engineering class.

Through the EITC program, corporations are able to make a financial contribution to approved Educational Improvement Organizations, such as the foundation.

“We sincerely appreciate the generous contribution MSA made to our schools through the Educational Improvement Tax Credit program. Their support will help us grow our STEAM program for our students,” White said. “I'd also like to thank the Golden Tornado Scholastic Foundation. Without our foundation, an EITC contribution to our schools would not be possible.”
