Fire damages bedroom in Center Twp. home
CENTER TWP — Two residents safety evacuated their home at 115 Lyn Dale Drive after a fire started in a second-story bedroom Sunday.
“I heard the alarm go off,” said James McCune.
He and Lori Hinderberger were cleaning the basement while listening to music. Hinderberger said when a song ended they heard the smoke alarm.
McCune rushed up the stairs and said the smoke choked him.
They called 911 at about 8:30 p.m.
“I was shooting water in the outside before the fire department got here, through the window,” McCune said.
Unionville Volunteer Fire Company Chief Nathan Wulff said the fire was contained to the upstairs bedroom.
“Smoke was coming out of house and flames through the rear bedroom window,” Wulff said.
The couple are insured. However, McCune said they would not be able to stay in the home for awhile.
The fire marshal will investigate the cause of the blaze.
Assisting at the scene were fire departments from South Butler, Oneida Valley and Butler Township stations 3 and 4.
