Butler man arrested after allegedly pulling knife on couple in the city

James Tiani

A Butler man was arrested after he allegedly pulled a knife on a couple Sunday night in the city, authorities said. No one was injured.

It’s not the first time Butler police have charged James J. Tiani, who goes by the nickname “Jimmy the Knife,” with wielding a knife.

He is already awaiting trial on charges that he pulled a knife on a city man last year. No one was injured in that incident either.

Police in the latest case accused Tiani of brandishing a knife at a 38-year-old man and 29-year-old woman about 9:50 p.m. Sunday on West Jefferson Street.

They told officers that they were talking to a friend when they saw the defendant in the middle of Chestnut Street walking toward them, according to charging documents.
