WIC offices closed through July 16
The Pennsylvania Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) offices in Butler and surrounding counties are closed until next week for the transition to an electronic benefits transfer (EBT) system.
The Butler County WIC office, located at Adagio Health, 323 Sunset Drive, Suite 1, and the WIC offices in Armstrong, Beaver, Indiana and Lawrence counties were closed Monday and will remain closed until July 16 to transition from issuing checks to an EBT system for delivering WIC food benefits.
The transition to EBT, referred to as eWIC, is intended to create an easier shopping experience. WIC families will be able to buy products over multiple trips to the store, rather than being required to buy everything at one time during the month.
The Pennsylvania WIC office is using a rolling implementation of eWIC in the 24 counties where WIC offices and clinics are located.
