Man dies Sunday after deer crashes through windshield

State police investigate a fatal accident that happened about 4 p.m. Sunday when a deer struck by an oncoming car crashed through the windshield of sport utility vehicle on Route 68 in Connoquenessing Township, killing the driver.

Pick up Monday's Butler Eagle to read the full story.CONNOQUENESSING TWP — A man was killed Sunday afternoon in a freak accident on Route 68 after a deer struck by an oncoming car crashed through the windshield of his sport utility vehicle.State police said the crash happened about 4 p.m. near the Butler County Humane Society. The man likely died instantly, according to authorities, after a deer hit by an antique car traveling in the opposite direction was thrown into the windshield of his vehicle.The man, whose name was not immediately available, was westbound on Route 68 driving a Saturn Vue with Ohio plates. The man's wife was a passenger in the front seat of the vehicle. She was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital after of complaining of back pain.The deer was hit by an eastbound Mercury Marauder with Pennsylvania antique plates.“The deer was propelled into the westbound lane and went through the windshield of the other vehicle,” said police Cpl. Greg Bogan.The Saturn went off the north side of the road, traveled through the grass and came to rest in front of what police said was an auto shop.No other details were available about the investigation.
