Administrators handling bed bug scare at Butler Senior High School
Butler Senior High School administrators say they're not yet concerned about a bug found by a student Wednesday.
According to a letter sent to parents by the school's principal John Wyllie Thursday morning, a student “found what they thought was a bed bug” in a classroom yesterday.
“Although we were not able to confirm what type of bug it was, we still treated the room as a precautionary measure,” Wyllie wrote. “The room was thoroughly cleaned and vacuumed last evening.”
Kara Droney, a spokeswoman for the district, said maintenance staff deployed a bug bomb as well.
The principal instructed students to notify a teacher if another bug is spotted, and he said they'll be on the look-out for signs of the insects.
“At this point, we do not believe there is any reason to be concerned,” Wyllie wrote.
