Wendy J. Taylor, 40, of Donegal Township is accused of using money from a Karns City elementary basketball program for her personal use.

A 14-year Moniteau School District teacher has been suspended pending the outcome of a state police theft-related investigation.

Wendy J. Taylor, 40, of Donegal Township is accused of using money from a Karns City elementary basketball program for her personal use, buying food items such as snack cakes and Pringles and sundries like body wash and shaving cream.

She also allegedly paid a cell phone bill and made an automated teller machine withdrawal from the program account.

On Monday, police showed up at the Moniteau High School with a warrant and arrested Taylor, a special-education teacher. Troopers led her away in handcuffs.

District Judge Lewis Stoughton arraigned her later that day on a felony charge of access device fraud and misdemeanor charges of theft by unlawful taking and theft by failing to make required disposition of funds.

Taylor lives in the Karns City Area School District and is a former school board member there. She served on the board from December 2013 to October 2017.
