Driver extricated following single-vehicle crash overnight in Cranberry
Cranberry Township - Emergency crews extricated the driver of a vehicle following a single-car crash Tuesday night in the lower Cranberry Mall parking lot.
Cranberry police and fire crews were called to the scene of the crash around 10:30 p.m. in front of the Cranberry Cinemas.
The car reportedly flipped over and caught fire after hitting a staircase connecting the two shopping centers located off Freedom Road and Route 19.
Crews remained on scene until after midnight. Life flight was placed on standby for the incident.
Rescue crews on site could not confirm if the man was transported from the scene by ambulance or helicopter, nor could authorities confirm the nature of the male driver's injuries.
The force of the impact caused significant damage to the vehicle and propelled vehicle debris and portions of the stair rails significant distances from the site of the impact.
Officials onsite were not able to comment on the cause of the accident or the speed of the vehicle involved.
