Motorcyclist dies after crashing into dump truck

Emergency crews and state police responded to an accident between a motorcycle and a Forward Township dump truck Friday morning around 10:40 p.m.

FORWARD TWP — A motorcycle operator died after crashing into a Forward Township dump truck at about 10:40 a.m. Friday.

The driver was a 44-year-old man from Evans City, according to Butler County Chief Deputy Coroner John Hanovick.

He was pronounced dead at about 11:19 a.m. after being transported by ambulance to the emergency room at UPMC Passavant in Cranberry Township. He died of blunt force trauma to the chest and abdomen, Hanovick said. He was wearing a helmet.

The driver’s name or more details about the accident have not yet been released.

No one else was injured, police said.

The accident occurred on the 240 block of Marburger Road. Police closed the road for much of Friday for an accident reconstruction analysis.

An autopsy is not planned, Hanovick said, but a routine toxicology screening will be performed.

Staff in Forward Township’s municipal office said the township would not be able to offer a comment Friday.
