Shooting suspect tracked down using high-tech state police equipment
JACKSON TWP – A state police helicopter and a team of Butler County officers apprehended an armed man who fled the scene of a shooting in Rochester, Beaver County, by car and made his way to Jackson Township.
Police had not identified the man as of late Sunday morning.
At about 7 p.m. Saturday, emergency dispatchers sent Zelienople and Jackson Township police to investigate a possible intoxicated driver on State Route 68, according a news release issued today by the Jackson Township Police Department.
Authorities surrounded the suspect's vehicle near the Speedway located at 135 Lindsay Drive in Jackson Township when the man fled into the woods.
A state police helicopter using thermal and night-vision equipment soon tracked the suspect down.
The man was turned over investigators with the Rochester Police Department.
