Career opportunities to be highlighted at open house
JEFFERSON TWP — Those looking for more information on an apprenticeship or career at Penn United Technologies can attend an open house on Wednesday.
Kristen Bastaja, a corporate recruiter at the company, said the public is invited to the event, which will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Nov. 13 in the Carl E. Jones Learning Center on the Penn United Technologies campus.
Bastaja said information on the high-precision manufacturing company's apprenticeship program plus tours of classrooms and manufacturing laboratories will be offered at the open house.
Managers also will be available to talk to potential applicants about the positions and apprenticeships available at the employee-owned company, she said.
The event is being held to celebrate National Apprenticeship Week, which is this week.
“We really want to focus on our apprenticeship programs as well as other careers,” Bastaja said.
While the machinist and machine operator apprenticeships that are currently available will be highlighted at the open house, information also will be available on all other apprenticeship programs at the company.
“It's a great opportunity if anybody is interested in an apprenticeship program or students who want to bring their parents,” Bastaja said.
Penn United's 2018 open house drew 50 people in a heavy snowstorm, so Bastaja expects more attendees this year.
The Carl E. Jones Learning Center is located on the north side of the Penn United campus at 799 N. Pike Rd. in Cabot.
Bastaja said banners will direct traffic to the correct location.
