Father held for court for tampering with gun
CHICORA — A Donegal Township man is headed for trial on charges he removed a handgun state police were looking for as part of an investigation related to his son.
David V. Rodgers, 57, allegedly took the pistol from a house on Haysville Road in Fairview Township before troopers could search the home Oct. 17. Earlier that same day, police suspect Rodgers' son, 19-year-old Adam J. Rodgers, fired the gun at another teen during an altercation in Cherry Township before he and another teen stashed it at the home.
Although his listed address is Donegal Township, authorities believe Adam Rodgers had been staying at the home on Haysville Road before the altercation. The home's owner has not been charged in connection with the case.
At a preliminary hearing Tuesday, District Judge Lewis Stoughton ordered David Rodgers held for court on charges of prohibited possession of a firearm, hindering apprehension or prosecution and tampering with physical evidence. He is free on $30,000 bail.
