Vo-tech wins plow contest again
The third time was a charm for students at the Butler County Area Vocational-Technical School participating in the Paint a Plow program.
The school received the Judge's Pick award in the state Department of Transportation District 10 competition, which saw students from various schools in Butler, Armstrong, Clarion, Jefferson and Indiana counties adorn District 10 snowplow blades to the theme “Don't Rush in Ice and Slush.” Vo-tech students also topped the judge's pick in 2018 and 2017.
The 10 PennDOT employees who voted on the plows also awarded St. Luke's Lutheran School in Jefferson Township an honorable mention for its plow paint job.
The new Fan Favorite award, determined by online voting, went to United High School in Indiana County.
Leechburg Area High School in Armstrong County took home honorable mention in the same category.
During the snowy season, PennDOT trucks will use the plows to clear snow and ice from state roads in the district.
