Both lanes open on I-79 bridge Lancaster
LANCASTER TWP — Both lanes of northbound I-79 crossing over East Lancaster Road are now open after PennDOT completed temporary repairs, although the township road remains closed.
The two-lane bridge was damaged when an overheight truck struck the span Oct. 4, causing damage.
PennDOT announced plans later that month to temporarily support the bridge until spring 2020, when permanent repairs would be made.
During the emergency fix, which began Nov. 1, the left lane of the bridge was restricted.
Because the roadway has not seen long-term repairs, the underpassing East Lancaster Road will remain closed between Route 19 and Yellow Creek Road until the bridge is permanently supported.
