An interview with a turkey
To celebrate another happy Thanksgiving on the books, our reporter sat down with one of the lucky turkeys who survived this year's holiday for a brief question-and-answer session.
TANNER: Thanks for being here today. How did you hold up this year?
TURKEY: Gobble, gobble.
TANNER: Right, I'll get right into it then. During one of my very first Thanksgivings, I took a bite of turkey meat and announced to the room that the chicken tasted funny. Do all the comparisons to chicken bring you down? Or is that something you encourage?
TURKEY: Gobble gobble gobble.
TANNER: Grocery chains and home cooks this time of year seem obsessed with poundage. How important was keeping your weight down to surviving?
TURKEY: Gobble gobble. Gobble, gobble gobble.
TANNER: I see the turkeys getting pardoned by the president this year are named Bread and Butter. What thoughts do you have on their names? How about the tradition itself?
TURKEY: Gobble, cluck cluck. Gobble.
TANNER: Now that we as a society are shifting our attention to the Christmas season, what are you hoping to see under the tree this December?
TURKEY: Honestly, I'll be happy with my good health and enough seed to keep my family's bellies full.
TANNER: What are you most thankful for this Thanksgiving?
TURKEY: Gobble.
