The state Department of Agriculture is warning residents about a fraudulent website selling fake dog licenses.

The department recently found a website selling the fake licenses at padoglicense(dot)online. According to the department's press release, the site was paying search engines to appear at the top of search results for commonly used search terms.

The department works with county treasurers to sell dog licenses. If a resident is starting the process online they should begin at www.licenseyourdogpa.pa.gov. Butler County dog licenses for 2020 go on sale Sunday, Dec. 1, and Butler County residents can purchase them at https://www.doglicenses.us/PA/Butler/ once they are available.
