James Peters

James F. Peters, 82, of Butler, passed away on Monday, Nov. 18, 2019, at Butler Memorial Hospital.

He was born July 30, 1937, in Butler, and was the son of the late Norman L. Peters and Alice E. (Deer) Peters.

James was a member of the Intersection Community Church.

He worked as an insurance claims adjuster for Erie Insurance. He was also a sewage enforcement officer in Butler, and was self-employed as a contractor of Colorado Homes.

James’ No. 1 priority was his family. He was a very devoted Christian and student of the Bible. He also enjoyed horseback riding. He was a very good basketball player.

James is survived by three sons, David James (Tracy) Peters of Cleveland, Ohio, Josh Christian Peters and his fiancée, Heather Freemont, of Aurora, Ohio, and Shawn Matthew Peters and his fiancée, Joanna Sarianopoulos, of Youngstown, Ohio; his daughter, Julie Kristen (Jerry) Hanley of Venice, Fla.; five grandchildren, Ethan, Brynn, Sydney, Jack and Sean; and his brother, Norman L. Peters Jr.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Daniel Peters.

PETERS — Friends of James F. Peters, who died Monday, Nov. 18, 2019, will be received from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.

Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with Pastor Fred Kison officiating.

Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery.
