Store closes without warning
CRANBERRY TWP — A photography store with a location in Streets of Cranberry Shops shut its doors abruptly nationwide late last week, leaving orders unfulfilled.
Portrait Innovations, headquartered in Charlotte, N.C., abruptly closed its Cranberry location late last week leaving behind the orders of 44 customers, according to Emily Wittmer, marketing director for the shopping plaza.
“We had found out by a note on their door that they had left and they weren't coming back,” Wittmer said.
The company's website is inaccessible, and its Facebook page has been deactivated. Neither a phone call associated with the company's website registration nor an email to an address listed on the same was returned Tuesday.
The company lost its certificate of authority to operate business in North Carolina in August 2019 when it failed to file two annual reports with the state, according to records on the North Carolina Department of the Secretary of State website.
Portrait Innovations filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Charlotte in September 2017.
Wittmer said the landlord searched the property and found 44 customer orders left behind. All but four orders had customers' contact information associated with them.
The property owner, M&J Wilkow, is contacting the customers, who will be able to pick up their outstanding orders at the UPS Store next door, Wittmer said.
