Head-on collision injures drivers in Brady Twp.
BRADY TWP — Two men were injured Monday when their pickups collided head-on on Route 8 in Brady Township, authorities said.
The crash occurred just north of Staff and Hall roads around noon when one of the drivers apparently traveled into the opposing lane, according to state police.
An 85-year-old Forestville man was taken to Grove City Medical Center by ambulance with injuries that police described as moderate to serious.
Emergency crews said he suffered leg and torso injuries. Authorities did not immediately release his name.
His condition was not available.
He and Bill Heasley, 77, of Grove City, the other driver, were able to get out of their trucks on their own, said Mike Pflugh, chief of the Unionville Volunteer Fire Department, Heasley suffered only a minor injury.
Police said Heasley was headed south in a Dodge Ram and the other driver was going north in a Toyota Tacoma when the collision occurred.
A witness told troopers that before the crash, she saw the Dodge travel for about 200 yards in the wrong lane, police said.
Heasley told the Eagle he is not convinced he had crossed into opposing traffic.
He said he was headed to Butler.
“It all happened so quick. I don't remember anything at all. All I remember is boom,” he said, referring to when the trucks collided.
“All I got was one little scratch,” he noted, showing a bleeding cut on his hand.
The crash closed a portion of the road for about an hour to allow wreckers to haul away the badly-damaged trucks and crews to clean up the debris field left behind.
