Many tourists and Butler County residents attended last year's Moraine State Park Regatta.

The Moraine State Park Regatta scheduled for Aug. 1 and 2 has been canceled.

According to a post on the event's Facebook page Friday, it was canceled due to the loss of financial support from key sponsors and “in an abundance of caution regarding the (coronavirus) pandemic and lack of certainty surrounding how events over 25 people may be handled.”

A major event in the park's 50th anniversary celebration this year, the regatta was rescheduled for Aug. 7-8, 2021, as part of a 50+1event, the post states.

The decision to cancel was not taken lightly, according to the directors.
