County has 6 new virus cases

Butler County's increase of COVID-19 cases slowed Monday after a weekend spike in new cases.

According to the state Department of Health's report Monday, Butler County added six new confirmed cases, bringing the total of positive cases throughout the pandemic to 514.

Between Saturday and Sunday, Butler County had added 34 new cases.

While the spike could be a cause for concern, the state's reporting of new cases doesn't note when tests were completed for the newly attributed positive results.

A backlog at commercial testing labs nationwide has expanded wait times, leaving some people waiting up to two weeks for results.

Despite the new numbers, Butler Health System's reported numbers of COVID-19 inpatients remained steady since Friday.

As of Monday, Butler Memorial Hospital is still treating five patients in the hospital, but with one more patient needing admittance to the intensive care unit. All five of these patients have confirmed cases of COVID-19.
