Butler County sees 23 new COVID cases Friday, state reports highest one-day total
Butler County added 23 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 Friday and the state reported the largest one-day total of new cases since the pandemic began.
The number of confirmed cases in the county increased to 1,296, but the 2,219 new cases across the state is the largest one-day total so far and raises the total number of confirmed cases to 190,579.
An increase of 33 in statewide deaths raises the total to 8,625. No new deaths were reported in the county.
Butler Memorial Hospital reported one death and four new positive tests Friday.
The large increase in cases is reflected in some surrounding counties such as Allegheny County, which saw an increase of more than 100 new cases; Westmoreland County, which added 39 new cases; and Armstrong and Lawrence counties, which added 20 new cases each.
