Like many others in the area, the South Butler County School District continues to be plagued by the coronavirus pandemic.

Superintendent David Foley sent a letter to parents Wednesday that at-home learning would continue through the school week of Dec. 1 through 4.

Foley said he extended remote learning by one week because the school board will hold a special meeting Monday.

The meeting was called to discuss the district's compliance with the state departments of Health and Education's requirement that all school districts in the state attest to the mode of instruction being used in remote learning.

A form to attest to a mode of at-home instruction is due to the Department of Education by Nov. 30.

“As a result of the timing of this meeting being so close to Thanksgiving and my desire to provide notice to our families for school following the Thanksgiving break, I am extending the remote learning option for the week of Dec. 1 through 4,” Foley said in the letter.
