Police name shooting suspect in nurse's murder
The Nashville Metropolitan Police have released the name of the man accused of shooting Chicora native Caitlyn Kaufman, who was killed Dec. 3 as she drove to work.
Devaunte L. Hill, 21, of East Nashville, was arrested at 6:15 a.m. Friday for the murder of the 26-year-old Kaufman.
SWAT team members arrested him at his apartment.
Hill is being charged with criminal homicide in the shooting.
Kaufman, a 2012 Butler High graduate, was on her way to St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville when she was shot. She worked as an ICU nurse there.
Her Mazda SUV was found against a set of guide rails along the highway, where police found Kaufman deceased.
A Nashville medical examiner said she would have succumbed to her wounds within just a few minutes of being shot.
Police did not release any further details regarding Hill or if he had a motive.
